You cannot go from day-to-day in the calendar function by swiping. To look at a certain date, try using the navigation bar that is near the bottom of your screen. The day it currently is will be blue, so you should be able to find it easily. Set up FaceTime with your phone numbers and emails. Your iPad's FaceTime includes the email you used to set it up with by default; however, it's possible to add more addresses. Just add them in the Settings app. You can share your files with a Mac or a PC by syncing your files with iTunes. Thanks to iTunes, it's easier than ever to share documents with a computer. You'll be able to email PDFs to other platforms for download.

Do your iPad's sounds make you crazy? Head over to Settings and then press on your iPad's Sound tab. You can turn off alerts for new emails or even calendar alerts. If you don't wish to turn off these alerts, you can choose to reduce their volume. Put parental controls in place on your iPad. Access your Settings menu, then choose General and Restrictions. Then, tap Enable Restrictions. You can protect your kid from things they should not see. Anything that isn't age appropriate, such as certain shows, videos and websites will be off limits. If your children are going to be using the iPad, you may want to set up some parental controls. Choose enable restrictions in your settings and your children will not have access to the content marked as mature. Even with these in place, you should still always supervise children when they are online.

A double click on the iPad Home button will display all apps that are currently in use. This will open up a bar with all currently running apps and you can select each of them individually. This lets you keep an eye on what's running on your iPad and close unneeded apps to free up RAM. When the iPad freezes up, do a soft reboot. You can do this by holding down the power button, while at the same time pressing the home button. Hold both down for a few seconds. This will cause the tablet to restart. If you want to kill a running process, hold the main button for around 5 seconds. You can add a period when creating a document in a variety of text based apps, for example, Pages or Mail. Simply tap the keyboard two times. After double tapping, you will have a full stop with a space. The full stop acts as a great time saver when creating long documents.

There is no need for a a third device to transfer images from your digital camera to your iPad. Just take out the SD card from your camera, and plug it right into your iPad's SD-card reader. You can work directly with your images and other files without extra software installations because the device now acts as a storage disk. If your volume buttons are unresponsive, go into settings and select General, then Sounds. Make sure Change With Buttons is set to On and your buttons will work. The volume slider helps adjust your volume as well.

Battery life is typically shorter when using heavier applications like movies and games. One way to extend the life of your battery charge is to adjust the screen brightness. You may find you can enjoy your iPad without using the brightest setting possible. FaceTime is great for getting email and keeping contacts. Your iPad's FaceTime includes the email you used to set it up with by default; however, it's possible to add more addresses. Go to the settings of your iPad and add the email addresses and phone numbers you want to see on FaceTime. If you don't want your children viewing mature content, you can change the settings on your iPad to block it. In settings, you can adjust the level of mature content your child can see. This lets you block any adult content you don't want available.
